Ryan Reynolds Diet for Wolverine Tips for Getting A Cut Hollywood Body

by Frank Sherrill

With the release of X-Men Origins Wolverine, Marvel's latest X-Men film, expectations were high. Especially when it came to casting. Ryan Reynolds, who played Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman both rose to the physical challenge of building themselves up for the movie. And with the "Ryan Reynolds Workout Wolverine," Reynolds met that challenge with success.

For the most part, critics and fan reception was positive for Ryan Reynolds' portrayal of Deadpool, a sardonic but deadly warrior. Ryan Reynolds was no stranger to comic book movies, as he had already shown his impressive body in Blade Trinity several years beforehand. Many people were surprised to see Ryan's amazing body and muscular body, especially given his roots as a comedic actor. Besides, he should just be goofy, right?

Through will or wit, Ryan Reynolds has certainly been expanding his roles. While it remains to be seen whether he gets into the same great conditioning for his latest project... Green Lantern. Although, based on some of the early Hollywood buzz Reynolds will not disappoint anyone with his physical conditioning. He definitely takes his craft seriously.

Ryan Reynolds Deadpool workout

It was rumored that he gained approximately 20 pounds of lean muscle mass for the movie blade Trinity. It may also be true that he was able to achieve nothing less than a 3% body fat. Bear in mind, that you must be below 8% body fat in order for your six pack abs to show. That's if you're a man, for a woman you need to be below 19% body fat. Both Jessica Biel and Reynolds use the services of celebrity personal trainer Buddy Strom.

It's amazing to see what a little bit of dedication, accountability, and a deadline will help you accomplish.

I guess because he was so successful using Buddy Strom earlier that Reynolds used them again to get ready for his Deadpool workout. Strom, has trained many Hollywood celebrities in the past. Most recently, he was responsible for getting Scarlett Johansson (Ryan Reynolds wife) in shape for her role of "Black Widow" in the film Iron Man II.

Here are some of his secrets to help you build the body you've always wanted.

For starters, in Reynolds' workout, Strom was a big advocate of integrating stability and core exercises with more traditional weight training for what is known as "functional fitness." During his workout program, Ryan Reynolds only focused on one specific body part each day during a six-day cycle. The reason for this detailed focus was because Reynolds was likely an Ectomorph.

Strom used that particular type of workout to beat this specific obstacle. He did not have to do more than 8 reps in a single set. The maximum amount of weight that Reynolds could handle was used for all the sets. He started to almost worship lifting weights!

While he was training, Ryan ate a diet consisting of 40% carbohydrates, 40% protein, and only 20% fats. This is considered a standard bodybuilding diet.

Here's a tip straight from Buddy Strom: when you are in a low-fat diet, consume 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil each day. This will trick your body into believing that you are still consuming plenty of fat. This way it won't hold onto its fat stores. Thus, you will become ripped that much faster.
